The OLEXT research program is a collaborative clinical research initiative aimed at improving perioperative respiratory care with an initial focus on the understudied extubation period. Building on a foundation of high-quality studies in lung-protective ventilation, OLEXT advances knowledge through systematic reviews, national audits, and randomized trials. Our mission is to optimize extubation timing and ventilation strategies during general anesthesia to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
